Fascinating place, great place to wander around and take in all the tiny streets. We didn't have time to go into any museums or cathedral but still enjoyed our visit in the evening and the following day. We arrived on Easter Sunday and expected to find most eating places closed (which they were) - so would plan carefully if arriving on a Sunday evening

We loved this town - it was historic but had a modern part too. Easy to wander around. We randomly booked it as a stop over to recover from a long flight from Auckland to Paris on our way south. We were wonderfully surprised. Included an easy day trip to Chambord.

Beautiful city so much to see just roaming the streets you get the feel of times gone past.
The roads are steep in places and there a lots of flights of steps.
but it is so lovely you loose time so you do not realise how far you are going.
The cathedral is amazing some of the best windows I have ever seen.
There are quite a few places to sit and eat and prices were pretty reasonable.
We traveled into the city by bus which was cheap and frequent.
but after a full morning we thought we may get a taxi back
Don't try and get a taxi at lunch time they are non existent.
We waited 40 mins at the station along with 4 other couples all having phoned for a cab.

Bourges exceded our expectations for a short stay.
Bourges exceded our expectations for a short stay. Our trip coincided with annual music festival which meant the town was busy and vibrant. Most venues were open even though it was early in the season. Old town is accessible on foot. Impressive cathedral. Lots of food options. Had pizza at La Scala, good food, reasonably priced. We learnt that Bourges was once the capital of France. Well worth a visit.

Perfect for stopover halfway down France.
Perfect for stopover halfway down France. Restaurants in vicinity were great, unless you are a vegetarian, (but it's France). Great choices for breakfast, great coffee, cereals, fresh bread and croissants, yoghurt, crepes, fresh fruits, boil your own eggs - what fun!

The medieval area is interesting but not easy to find,,, get a map and directions from the Office de Tourisme, very helpful.
Take the tourist road train from outside the Tourist Office /cathedral; last trip 5pm
We have now stayed at the Chateau on several visits and will continue to as this is our home away from home while in central France. We love every aspect of the property, the convenience to the motorway, ideal location close to scenic area and of course the welcoming staff and good value for money.
We were pleasantly surprised by the upgrades to the property, smart new bathroom equipment and even more attractive bedroom. See you again soon.
There was 6 of us so the downstairs living area was a good feature. The bedrooms were quite roomy. Overall the size of the place easily accommodated all 6 of us. The location to all the tourist interests of Bourges was an easy walk. The location was very quiet. We all loved the old feel of the place which dovetailed nicely with our stay in Bourges. I would stay there again. Also, the owner provided 2 keys which helped with our group.
Convenient for Bourges (about 3km away from centre so we walked in). Rooms fairly comfy although very small, with the ensuite even smaller! But there was a fair amount of storage space so we could put some of our smaller bags in the wardrobe, chest of drawers etc.
Restaurant wasn't open for dinner but the space is used for breakfast, which was good.
A comfortable stopover hotel, probably not suitable for more than 1 or 2 nights.
The room and facilities were spot on for our one night stop-over. Air-con was effective on an exceptionally hot day, the TV had access to plug in our Firestick - which is always a bonus for us and the WiFi worked well. The room/hotel was clean and tidy with helpful and friendly staff.
This was our first stop-over in Bourges - we usually stop in Tours. The city was very interesting (culturally/historically) and we hope to return.
Le Cedre Bleu is not a stereotypical hotel. It is a bit quirky, but the welcome was genuinely warm, and the staff member on duty was genuinely helpful and flexible; it was far more than just good professional customer service. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and a good size. The location is excellent between the marais and the oldest part of Bourges, an easy walk to attractions and restaurants.
The property has been restored and renovated in a very sympathetic style and in keeping with its historical past Our room Don Carlos was stylish , beautifully decorated and extremely comfortable.
The breakfast is absolutely superb and almost all home made. The best we have ever eaten over many years travelling around France
Wonderful hosts and best facilities. The place is very close to Old Town in Bourges and close to the marshes and other tourist sites. Very close to the cathedral only a couple of hundred meters. The hosts have prepared the room with everything that would make for comfort and a very easy stay.
Perfect property for our family of 4 on a stopover back up to Calais. Great location in the heart of Bourges. Had no problems with parking with the bikes on the roof of the car (parked in the square around the corner at the recommendation of the owners).
The hotel is situated closely to the highway, which was very convenient since we stayed here one night on our way to Southern France. Very friendly personnel. Also, there are quite a few restaurants for dinner and breakfast in the vicinity.
The apartment is exquisitely furnished and decorated and superbly located adjacent to the spectacular cathedral of Bourges. 3 Maillets is spectacular and highly recommended.
Lovely hotel and welcome and staff very helpful. Only a few minutes walk to Bourges town with its beautiful cathedral and gardens- we went through park
